Commercial Property Landscaping and design has now become as important and as popular as interior office design. There has finally been a shift in the paradigm, and commercial and hoa managers are beginning to see their property as an extension of their office building rather than an add on. This has created many options in designs that building owners can take advantage of, and many hoa landscaping design trends to take inspiration from.

Sustainable Relaxation

It’s important to have a functional and beautiful outdoor space that works all year round with minimal commercial landscape maintenance required. Many property owners are gravitating towards landscaping that requires minimal care that include drought tolerant flowers, some of our clients are opting for synthetic grass which saves water and requires very little maintenance. The other big trend in terms of sustainable commercial landscaping is hardscaping. This involves using hard materials such as concrete, rock and impervious stone to form a patio area, or to create space that is dividable into separate areas for their use. Hardscaping can bring longevity to a landscape design, and will help to ensure that the landscaping provides sustainable value.

Extending the Meeting Outdoors

The addition of an outdoor building structure can help to bridge the gap between indoors and out, and this is one of the most prominent trends in commercial and hoa landscaping. Some building managers want their exterior space to be useful and they also want them to be relaxing, but taking standard architectural designs and engineering them to work in an outdoor space, the exterior landscaping created will be something that functions exactly the way the manager envisions, but that is also beautiful and blends in with the natural outdoor space.

Go to Destinations (Use a coffee barista bar or BBQ island photo)

Currently, one of the key trends in commercial property landscaping and design is the creation of ‘go to destinations’. This means, creating a space within the property that is meant to be outside of the office into a tranquil destination, a place where busy professionals can really just relax and unwind between meetings and work. This can be anything from a lounge area to a corporate coffee bar.

Add Ambience

A relaxation space in apartment and hoa landscaping can be just as good in the evening as it is in the daytime. The idea is to add features which create a feeling of relaxation to enjoy for a quick breather or early evening staff meeting. Many home owners associations and luxury apartment communities have chosen to add a fireplace, or a fire pit to achieve this ambiance. However, there are many other options such as low voltage lighting, outdoor heaters, wood fired pizza ovens as well as plush soft furnishings such as outdoor Persian carpet.
